
Prof. M.A. Ayub Shah, M.V.Sc., Ph.D.

Professor M.A. Ayub Shah was born in Imphal East (erstwhile Manipur Central District) in 1963. He obtained his B.V.Sc. & A.H. and M.V.Sc. (Pharmacology) degrees in 1986 and 1988; respectively from the College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani (Maharashtra) and the Ph.D. (Veterinary Pharmacology) in 1994 from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar.
He started his teaching career by joining the College of Veterinary Sciences, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bidar (Karnataka) as the founder Pharmacology teacher and served there for a brief period before his joining for Ph.D. studies at IVRI in January 1989. Professor Shah joined the College of Veterinary Science & AH, C.S. Azad University of Agriculture& Technology, Mathura Campus in September 1991 as Assistant Professor of Pharmacology& Toxicology and served there for more than 10 years at different positions- Assistant Professor (27.09.1991 to 31.12.1995), Assistant Professor SS (01.01.1996 to 31.12.2000) and Assistant Professor SG/Associate Professor (01.01.2001 to 12.10.2001).
Following his appointment as Founder Associate Professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Professor Shah joined the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University, Selesih, Aizawl (Mizoram) on 15.10.2001 and established the Department of Pharmacology& Toxicology and managed the Department as the lone faculty member till October 2006. He had been elevated to the cadre post of Professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology through the process of direct selection in April 2007. Professor Shah had played a pivotal role in establishing the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology as one of the best Laboratory in the country. He had also significantly contributed in the overall development of the College devotedly for the last 10 years.
During his service in the Central Agricultural University, Aizawl Campus, Professor Shah has acted as Chairman, Members/Member Secretary of various Committees at the College level.
His major areas of interest are biochemical toxicology, pharmacokinetics of antimicrobial dugs, research on medicinal plants, pesticide residues in food and environment and drug residues in meat and milk.
During the last 22 years, he had attended more 20 National and International Conferences/Symposia/Seminars and presented more than 40 scientific papers including lead papers. He had also participated in more than 20 Short-term Trainings/Summer and Winter Schools/Workshops conducted by reputed Institutes including IVRI and NAARM.
He has been acting as Referee for reviewing articles for publication in Indian Journal of Toxicology, Toxicology International, International Journal of Research in Pharmaceutical Sciences etc. He is also a Member of Advisory Board of Toxicology International since 1999. Professor Shah is the Founder Editor of International Journal of Research in Phytochemistry & Pharmacology since 2010.
Professor Shah has guided 7 M.V.Sc. Scholars as Major Advisor and Co-Supervised 12 as Member of Advisory Committee. Presently, he is guiding 1 M.V.Sc. and 1 Ph.D. Scholars and Co-Guiding 1 Ph.D. Scholar of West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences, Kolkata.
He had acted as Examiner for more than 10 Universities/Deemed University including IVRI.
Professor Shah has more than 80 publications including Book Chapters, Research Articles and
Research Papers/Abstracts.
He is Principal Investigator of 2 ICAR Network Projects. He is also Co-PI in an Intramural Research Project.
